Game of Thrones coming to M-Net from September.

The highly acclaimed, utterly epic, and superb brand-new fantasy drama Game of Thrones will start on M-Net in September.

Dragons! Giant wolves! A massive wall to the north behind which lurks ... an evil that the peoples have forgotten. M-Net and M-Net Africa HD will in September air 10 episodes in the first season.

The magnificent Game of Thrones is based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling fantasy series about duelling families in different wide-spanning geographical places - fighting for control and political rulership, while evil is actually brewing in their midst. Imagine Lord of the Rings but as a TV show, but done in that same epic, big-budget, big storytelling scope.

In whatever measurement - production values, scope, canvass, plot development , immersive visual storytelling Game of Thrones is one of the best TV shows of 2011, and now African viewers will be able to see it this year as well, and in HD.

M-NET LAUNCHES NEW SEASON OF GLO NAIJA SINGS.

M-Net has confirmed that DStv audiences will soon be able to tune in for the third season of the popular music reality series GLO NAIJA SINGS!

Tapping into the talent of Nigeria’s music community, the series combines the energy and emotion of aspiring performers with the expertise and skill of already established industry stars. The result is sensationally entertaining television that has the unique potential to change lives, as in the case of season one winner Jon Ogah and season two’s breakout star Casey Edema who both walked away with USD 100 000 in cash.

Open to a wide range of vocal music performers from soloists and duos to groups of up to 4 persons, GLO NAIJA SINGS gets underway later this month with free auditions set for seven cities across the country where hopefuls can put their singing ambitions to the test. So whether you like to express yourself through hip-hop, reggae, R&B, Afro-Beat, pop, soul or jazz, now’s your chance to step into the spotlight. The competition is open to entrants over the age of 18, with valid proof of Nigerian citizenship. All entrants will have to complete an entry form and are only allowed to audition once.

Produced by M-Net Nigeria and Nevermachine, in previous seasons the show included special celebrity judges as part of the audition process and this year, it will be no different. Past celebrity judges have included General Pype, Djinee, Omawumi, YQ, GT the Guitarman, Tyeng Gang, Kore Brown and TJ to name a few, so fans are advised to keep an eye out for more top performers this time round.

“We’ve been very fortunate that the cream of Nigeria’s music industry have joined us over the past two seasons, to the absolute delight of our audiences and the benefit of our contestants. By giving so generously of their time and their talent, they have grown not only their own fan base but also played a vital part in the development of Nigerian music” says Biola Alabi, Managing Director M-Net Africa.

She continues, “M-Net is happy to partner with GLO once more on a program which has really begun to draw large audiences eager to see, hear and celebrate great music from rising Nigerian stars. It’s fantastic that audiences are so responsive to this kind of series, that viewers participate through voting and that they really want to see the contestants succeed. It’s exciting, dramatic, and of course, fun!”

So if you want to have fun, and possibly find great fame and a large fortune along the way, make sure that you enter season three of GLO NAIJA SINGS.

On screen logo's of M-Net channels switched from top right corner to the top left corner 1 April.

Here's your first look at the brand-new logo for the M-Net Africa HD (DStv 170) channel that came into effect as a channel ident just after midnight this morning, 1 April.

The new gleaming M-Net Africa HD logo changed the font of the ''HD'' wording to a sans serif font, made the ''M'' blue ribbon bigger and now separate from the ''HD" to be more visible and to also be exactly the same as not jus the ''M'' of the main M-Net channel (DStv 101/102) but also similar to how the ''M'' is now big and at the front of all the other M-Net sister channels (M-Net Stars, M-Net Action, M-Net Series).

The new M-Net Action logo has a more subdued amber colour that the bright yellow below. The ''liquid lava'' look has also been replaced with a pronounced less 3D look. The silver lettering is also several shades lighter. The dot of the ''i'' is now the ''flame'' icon that appeared at the beginning (where the yellow ''M'' is now) and that was ditched in October.

The new M-Net Series logo is much clearer than the current old one , done to make M-Net channels instantly identifiable and brand-recognizable as belonging to the M-Net channel cluster. All the channels get the ''M'' ribbon-device moved to the front - in whatever colour. M-Net Series will be changing to a clear and crisp silver metallic look, adding just a dash of dramatic tonality with that serif letter ''r'' and the dot of the ''i'' that now reverses the curved angle from the left side to the right.
