Nigerians can now truly enjoy television “anywhere” at “any time” with the launch of the Drifta – an innovative new mobile decoder from DStv Mobile. The launch follows a long line of technology innovations such as DStv Mobile, High Definition decoders and integrated customer services tools for which DStv has become known.
With the new Drifta, subscribers in DStv Mobile network coverage areas including Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Onistsha, Asaba, Aba, Benin City, Kaduna and Enugu will have unlimited access to all the channels on the DStv Mobile DVB-H network
The mobile TV decoder – the Drifta – receives the DStv Mobile (DVB-H) broadcast signal and relays it over WiFi to a range of WiFi capable devices, this includes laptops, PCs, tablets such as the iPad, smartphones, iPhones and iPods. At launch the Drifta supports Windows and the iOS devices, however in the future additional devises such as the Blackberry OS, Symbian 3 and Android applications will also be supported.
While non-DStv subscribers can also purchase a Drifta and subscribe to one of three bouquets - the Free bouquet, the Mini and the Maxi bouquet, DStv Premium subscribers on the other hand will have access to the Maxi Plus bouquet at absolutely no additional charge after paying only for the Drifta hardware.
The channel line-up on the DStv Mobile bouquet includes entertainment channels such as - Africa Magic, Africa Magic Yoruba, E! Entertainment Mobile and BET. Free to Air channel NTA Plus, music channel Channel O and Trace Urban, sports channels SS Blitz, SuperSport 9, SuperSport 10 and SuperSport 3 Nigeria (for DStv Premium subscribers only), news from CNN and NN24 and children’s programming on Cartoon Network Mobile.
These are split into three bouquet options which include:
Free bouquet NTA Plus and Channel O
Mini bouquet Entertainment channels only (N 680)
Maxi bouquet Entertainment channels plus SS Blitz, SS9 and SS10 (N 1, 600)
Maxi Plus bouquet Only for DStv Premium subscribers (includes all channels as well as SS3N)
The Drifta will be available for N14,700 from MultiChoice offices and the service can be activated via the MultiChoice call centre or the DStv Mobile website.
