A new Disney channel has launched on MultiChoice’s DStv satellite TV network in Africa. Described as “boy-focused, but girl-inclusive” channel, Disney XD is aimed at children aged between 6 and 14.
It will air from 4am to 9pm daily, and include programmes such as ‘Phineas & Ferb’, ‘Zeke and Luther’, ‘The Avengers’, the musical comedy ‘I’m in the Band’, and the 2D animation ‘Kick Buttowski’. “We are focused on continuously expanding the DStv viewing experience for our subscribers, both young and old, and not forgetting the young at heart,” said Aletta Alberts, general manager - content, MultiChoice. “Disney XD, with its strong action flavor, will no doubt delight and enthrall our young viewers.”
MultiChoice offers a range of pay-TV bouquets, with its premium DStv service now providing over 90 TV channels in standard definition, six in high definition (HD) - as well as 40 audio channels, 32 radio channels and four interactive services. Tailored offerings are also available for Africa’s Indian and Portuguese-speaking communities.
